Spring officially arrived Saturday at 1:32 p.m. ET., but the first day of spring in Toronto hasn’t been as warm as the last few days of winter.

Toronto broke a weather record Friday when temperatures hit 19.1 C at Pearson International Airport, beating the previous high of 14.2 C recorded in 1986.

But Saturday the sun ducked behind the clouds and the temperature hovered around 4 C — closer to the seasonal norm, according to CBC meteorologist Kalin Mitchell.

“There’s a chance of seeing some flurries out there over the evening, but no significant snowfall accumulations are expected," Mitchell said.

Mitchell said Torontonians should see a warming trend Monday through Wednesday, with temperatures creeping towards 10 C.

Despite the chill, gardeners were still able to plan for spring Saturday at Canada Blooms, the country's largest garden and flower show.

The show opened at the Direct Energy Centre on Wednesday and wraps up on Sunday — but one of the major events was held Saturday afternoon, when garden guru Martha Stewart stopped by the show to launch a new product line and share tips.
