A Toronto west-end neighbourhood has a new name: Junction Triangle.
Residents in the area between Dundas and Lansdowne - just north of Perth Avenue and south of Davenport Road - wrapped up two weeks of voting over the weekend.
The winning name, which beat out nine other finalists including East Junction, Perth Park and The Wedge, was announced Tuesday on CBC's Metro Morning.
While the new name isn't officially recognized, the hope is that the Junction Triangle will unite the community and attract business to the area, says Fuzzy Boundaries, the local group behind the year-long neighbourhood designation campaign.
"A name has a lot of value, it pulls a neighbourhood together and creates a sense of community," Kevin Putnam, co-founder of Fuzzy Boundaries told Metro Morning's Matt Galloway.
"A process like this creates an opportunity for people to get to know one another and have a discussion about their neighbourhood."
More than 670 residents in the area voted with Junction Triangle winning just over 46 per cent of the vote. The runner up was Perth Park, with almost 28 per cent of the vote.Share Tools
