A Toronto west-end neighbourhood will soon have a new name. Residents in the area between Dundas and Lansdowne —-just north of Perth Avenue and south of Davenport Road —- wrapped up two weeks of voting over the weekend on the new designation.

They had to choose from 10 finalists, including East Junction, Perth Park and The Wedge. The frontrunners include Junction Triangle and South Junction Triangle, the names some residents have been using for years.

While not officially recognized, the winning name should serve to pull the community together , according to a group calling itself Fuzzy Boundaries, which has been running the year-long neighbourhood designation campaign.

The group collected suggestions from residents before Saturday's vote. The winner will be announced Tuesday on CBC's Metro Morning.

Spokesman Kevin Putnam said members of Fuzzy Boundaries feel a name would help pull the community together.

"A name kind of binds an area together," he said. "I live on Perth. I have a friend who lives a couple of streets over on Campbell, but when people ask us where we live, no one really has no answer. When a neighbourhood has a name, people start to develop an affinity for it and take ownership for it and it has all kind of positive ramifications."
