The Salvation Army says it will continue to run the Toronto Grace Hospital after reaching an agreement with the province.

The deal comes amid uncertainty over the facility's future after the charitable group said over the weekend it wanted to get out of the hospital business.

In a Wednesday release, the Salvation Army said the facility will remain open "thanks to the commitment of [Health Minister Deb Matthews] in announcing funding for the required infrastructure upgrades that are required for the safety and security of the patients, staff and volunteers of the Toronto Grace Health Centre."

The details of that "commitment" have not been released.

The Salvation Army has run the 119-bed palliative and complex care hospital located on Church Street for more than 100 years.

"We have a strong and long-standing partnership with the Salvation Army and I'm thrilled that we're going to be able to keep working together to ensure that vital services are maintained at the current hospital site," Matthews said in a Wednesday statement.
