Canadian hurdler Priscilla Lopes-Schliep capped a stunning season by capturing three 2009 Athletics Canada awards on Sunday.

Lopes-Schliep, from Whitby, Ont., was named outstanding overall athlete, outstanding athlete in track events, and her silver medal race at the world championships earned her the award for the single outstanding performance of the year.

Lopes-Schliep's coach, Anthony McCleary, won coach of the year at the gala ceremony Saturday night.

In other awards:

  • Sultana Frizell of Perth, Ont., won the outstanding athlete of the year in field events. The hammer thrower broke her Canadian record twice and finished 10th at the world championships.
  • Reid Coolsaet of Hamilton was named outstanding athlete of the year in off-track events. Reid captured the 2009 Canadian marathon title in his debut in the event, and went on to finish 25th at the world championships.
  • James Steacy of Lethbridge, Alta., won the outstanding athlete enrolled in a Canadian university. The hammer thrower won silver at the Summer Universiade.
  • Brianne Theisen of Humboldt, Sask., won the combined events award.
  • Wheelchair racer Diane Roy of Hatley, Que., was named the outstanding para-athlete, wheelchair award.
  • Alister McQueen of Calgary won the outstanding para-athlete of the year, ambulatory award.
  • High jumper Derek Drouin of Corunna, Ont., was named outstanding junior.
  • Sprinter Aaron Brown of Toronto won outstanding youth of the year.
  • Jennifer Campbell of Winnipeg earned official of the year.
