Ho-Lee-Chow, a Chinese restaurant chain that first appeared in the Greater Toronto Area 20 years ago, has gone out of business.
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, one of which is the poor economic climate, another of which is a refusal to compromise on the quality and service you have come to appreciate, Ho-Lee-Chow has closed down operations," says a message on the chain's telephone order line on Wednesday evening.
The company's website is also no longer online.
The chain became famous for offering cheap Chinese food with no MSG.
When Ho-lee-Chow was first established in 1989, it opened five locations in Toronto. The chain expanded in the following years, setting up up franchises in six provinces.
