LEGEND: Temporary garbage drop-off Permanent garbage drop-off

Lawyers for the City of Toronto won an injunction Saturday to stop pickets from blocking a pest-control company that has been spraying garbage at the Christie Pits temporary dump site.

The four-day order expires Wednesday.

Several times this week, civic workers on strike have blocked exterminators hired by the city to control infestations at the park near Bloor and Christie streets, where garbage is piled high on the 13th day of the strike.

On Thursday, Toronto's chief medical officer, Dr. David McKeown, said the work should continue in order to keep vermin out of the park. In a bid to reassure local residents, he also said the chemical being used, permethrin, breaks down quickly.

Many residents living near the park were protesting outside the courthouse on Saturday.

As of 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, no additional garbage will be stored at Christie Pits, but any trash already there will remain.

Friday marked the last day the city was accepting garbage at the York Mills Arena site at York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue.

Motorists were lining up on the weekend at two newly opened temporary dump sites.

One is at Centennial Arena on Ellesmere Road, west of Markham Road; the other at Wilket Creek-Sunnybrook Park near Eglinton Avenue and Leslie Street.
