Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty unveiled a new cabinet on Wednesday — but embattled Health Minister David Caplan is keeping his job.

McGuinty gave his cabinet a slight makeover but Caplan, who has been in the eye of a political storm over the eHealth Ontario spending scandal, remains at his post.

Keeping Caplan as health minister will infuriate the opposition parties, which have been demanding his head because of the scandal over untendered contracts and CEO compensation at eHealth Ontario, the agency set up to oversee the creation of a provincial electronic health records system.

The recent resignation of Michael Bryant forced McGuinty to shuffle his cabinet now so ministers can get up to speed over the summer.

McGuinty opted for some minor changes involving six ministers and did not promote any backbenchers.

Ministers taking on more or different duties include Sandra Pupatello, John Milloy, John Wilkinson, Michael Gravelle, Ted McMeekin and Harinder Takhar.
