Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is investigating an accident that injured several people, including a police officer, after a police chase Wednesday night.
The SIU said Thursday that five general investigators, three forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist are working on the case.
Several vehicles were involved in the chase that ended in a crash on Main Street north of Danforth Avenue in the city's east end.
Three occupants of the pursued car were sent to hospital where they were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. At least one police officer was also injured.
According to an SIU news release, police were investigating a car on Danforth Avenue when the vehicle took off. Police pursued it up Main Street, the SIU said.
The SIU is asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call 416-622-0748 or 1-800-787-8529.
The SIU is a civilian agency that investigates cases of serious injury or deaths when the police are involved.
