Ont. moving ahead with plan for train link to Toronto's Pearson airport

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty says the province is moving ahead with a revised plan to build a transit link from downtown Toronto to Pearson International Airport.
He says the new plan includes a stop in the city's west end and a tunnel to prevent traffic snarls.
Metrolinx, the Ontario Crown agency that's in charge of the project, says the plan will first have to go through public consultations and an environmental assessment.
McGuinty says the project is expected to break ground by the end of the year.
The construction of the new train link between Toronto's Union Station and Pearson airport is part of a $1-billion transit expansion funded by the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
However, Metrolinx says once built, the airport link will be financed and operated privately.
