McGuinty hopes feds will work on auto help if Parliament prorogued

Premier Dalton McGuinty wants the federal government to keep working with Ontario on financial help for the auto sector, even if Parliament is prorogued.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to ask the Governor General to end the session of Parliament that began just 10 days ago because of the Liberal-NDP coalition trying to topple his minority government.
McGuinty said he believes Harper would still have the power to make a financial commitment to help the struggling auto industry, whether Parliament is sitting or not.
The premier said there are some things that just can't wait, and "the auto sector may be firmly in that camp."
McGuinty said he's eager to have things resolved on Parliament Hill sooner rather than later to protect 400,000 auto sector jobs in Ontario.
He wonders why the Big Three are asking for $9 billion more from Washington than the $25 billion first requested, and said he expects to know how much their Canadian operations want by the end of the week.
"You've got to wonder why the disparity," McGuinty said Wednesday.
