A Toronto taxi driver facing several charges in connection with a crash that cost a cyclist his leg has had his bail hearing held over until Tuesday.

The 36-year-old cyclist, Chris Kasztelewicz, has undergone a series of major operations since losing his right leg on Nov. 14.

Police have said there was an altercation which ended with a cyclist being crushed against a hydro pole by a taxi.

A 38-year-old cabbie turned himself in to police several hours after the accident and claimed someone tried to rob him.

But police said there was no evidence to support that claim.

The six charges against Sultan Ahmed of Maple, Ont., include aggravated assault, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
