The company whose propane plant blew up in northwest Toronto on Aug. 10 is appealing to the public not to rush to judgment.

Sunrise Propane has been criticized for not answering questions in the days after the accident.

On Tuesday, nine days later, it issued a short news release, saying it regrets the loss of life and adds it is co-operating with authorities.

"Since the events of Sunday Aug. 10, Sunrise Propane has expressed its profound regret for the tragic loss of life which occurred and for the events and turmoil that has resulted from that day," the company said in the release.

"Currently, there are numerous investigations into the incident and Sunrise is co-operating fully with the authorities. However, out of an abundance of caution and a desire for the investigatory process to unfold free of speculation and misinformation, we will not be making any further public comments at this time.

"We remain committed to co-operating with investigators, and encourage all concerned to assume an equally prudent position, and refrain from a rush to judgment.

"We appreciate that this has been a difficult period for all affected and while we understand the public's desire for immediate answers, we believe that only in the fullness of time will the answers be found."

Two people died in the events surrounding the explosions, including a firefighter. Thousands of people had to leave their homes.
