Ontario's NDP calling for law presuming automatic consent for organ donation

Ontario's New Democrats are renewing calls for a presumed-consent law to govern organ donation in the province.
NDP members Peter Kormos and Cheri DiNovo plan to introduce — for the third time — a bill calling for a system that assumes people want to donate their organs when they die.
Those who don't wish to donate would be required to opt out in advance.
Under the current system, people wanting to donate their organs have to do the paperwork.
The MPPs say presumed consent would be an immediate help to the nearly 1,700 people in Ontario waiting for organs.
Kormos says he plans to introduce the bill when the legislature reconvenes in the fall.
