Crews continue to clean up Toronto streets after the latest big snowfall on Wednesday and Thursday, but the growing concern is how much it's costing.

City Hall says $4 million was spent to clean up the latest storm, on top of the $4 million spent after the big snowfall last week.

Those figures have some officials worried the city may overspend its snow removal budget this year.

"This week has been a trying week. Over 50 centimetres of snow, and normally we only get about 27 centimetres in February in total, so it's almost double snowfall already. Our budget is approximately $55 million for [the first part of] 2008.  If these types of weather conditions continue we probably will be overspent by the end of the year," said director of public works Gary Welsh.

Toronto budgeted a total $65 million for snow removal in 2008 — but that includes any snow fall until the end of the year.

Environment Canada is predicting periods of snow over each of the next four days.
