Two people have been charged with dangerous driving and criminal negligence, amid suspicions that a street race might have led to a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 400 north of Toronto.
Police said 11 people were taken to Southlake Regional Health Centre with injuries after Saturday's crash on Highway 400 just northwest of Newmarket, about 40 kilometres north of Toronto.

Two people were seriously hurt and nine, including a four-year-old child, had minor injuries.
Police said a Volkswagen Golf and a Honda Civic may have been racing in the southbound lanes when the Civic lost control and began to roll, striking the Golf.
Two other vehicles travelling behind them swerved to avoid the crash, but both vehicles slammed into the guardrail and ended up in the northbound lanes of the highway.
