The last flight to leave Terminal 2 at Toronto's Pearson International Airport is scheduled to take off Monday at 9.30 p.m. ET.

The 35-year-old terminal will then close for good on midnight Tuesday as part of an eight-year, $4.5-billion airport redevelopment.

In April, work crews will move in to start demolishing the terminal in a project that's expected to take 18 months to complete.

Starting Tuesday, flights handled at Terminal 2 will move to Terminal 1 Pier F — a new $800-million, high-tech facility featuring the latest security technology.

All Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and Air Canada Vacations passengers will use Terminal 1 when arriving or departing on U.S. flights.

"The new pier at Pearson airport means that for the first time in many years, Air Canada is located under one roof at its main operating hub," Air Canada CEO Montie Brewer said in a news release. "This will dramatically improve the customer experience through greater convenience, vastly reduced distances between gates and far easier connections."
