Several women are suing a Toronto surgeon after he allegedly botched their cosmetic procedures.

Nancy Gallant Clough is one of the women suing Dr. Alvin Anderson.

A stripper since she was 16, Gallant Clough's body was her business. She's had surgery more than once to create bigger breasts and younger-looking eyes. But the last time she went under the knife for a slimmer waist, she woke up to a nightmare.

"It was gross," Gallant Clough said, of the result. "Just looking in a mirror is torture."

Gallant Clough is not alone in suing Anderson, who performed her liposuction procedure. CBC News has learned Anderson has been sued nearly 20 times in the past 10 years.

Another Anderson patient who wanted to fix her breasts after giving birth, said: "After the surgery, my breasts were touching in the middle and there was a ledge under each breast."

In the lawsuits, several women claimed that the clinic misled them about Anderson's qualifications. They claim consultations were brief or non-existent until just before their operations.

Complaint filed with regulatory body

Half of the cases are still pending, including Gallant Clough's lawsuit, where a decision is expected in several weeks.

One of the women also lodged a complaint with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Anderson is now facing a disciplinary committee as a result.

But the regulatory body was not aware of the string of lawsuits. College president Jeff Turnbull said the regulatory body doesn't monitor civil action taken against doctors.

"We have not done that," Turnbull said. "We have relied on patients bringing those to us, but we would now. I think it is an opportunity for us to take into consideration all of that."

Anderson declined to comment on the allegations. In each lawsuit, he has denied he was negligent and has denied that any damages claimed were the result of his surgery.
