Razor blades were found buried in the sand at a children's playground in the west end of Toronto.

The discovery was made after police received a call from a local resident.

A man told police he spotted a middle-aged man placing something in the sand Wednesday morning in the playground on the northeast corner of Stanley Avenue and Station Road in the Etobicoke area of Toronto.

When he checked the sand, he found several razor blades and called the police.

A total of five blades were uncovered when police searched the area.

Thursday morning, officers were still on the scene sifting through the sand to see if there were any more. It is expected the park will reopen later in the day.

Police have described the man as between 40 and 50 years old with greying hair and a thin build. He is also described as having a full, foot-long white beard, pointed at the end.
