Ontario residents will learn details on Tuesday about a new airline's plans for flights between Ottawa and downtown Toronto.

Beginning this fall, the newly formed Porter Airlines will be operating flights from Ottawa to Toronto's island airport.

The airline is holding a news conference Tuesday to outline its plans. In February, Porter announced plans to offer flights later in 2006 within a 500 kilometre radius of Toronto.

The Ottawa route is the first one being offered by the airline, which is primarily targeting business travellers by using the  Toronto City Centre Airport as its base.

The privately owned Porter Airlines says it will service the route with 70-passenger, Bombardier Q400 turbo-prop airplanes.
