A Toronto police officer has been charged with misconduct for refusing to co-operate during an investigation of his fellow drug-squad officers.

That probe led to criminal charges against six Toronto officers, who are accused of robbing and beating drug suspects.

Jaroslaw Cieslik, 35, refused to talk to investigators who were looking into the allegations of wrongdoing.

Ontario's Police Services Act stipulates that "no member of a police force shall withhold his or her services."

Under the act, an officer found guilty of misconduct can be fined up to $2,000 and/or sentenced to up to a year in jail.
