Even Star Wars superfans may need to call upon the force to make it through this marathon.

Fans of the iconic series have been counting the minutes until they can watch the seventh Star Wars instalment on the silver screen.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is expected to shatter box office records when it hits theatres on Friday. Until then, some diehard fans are reliving the moments leading up to the release, with a 17-hour marathon of the entire series.

Viewers only get 10 minutes between episodes to reload on popcorn or go for a quick bathroom break.

Fans flooded into Scotiabank Theatre starting at 4 a.m. ET.

"For Star Wars, nothing can be too early," franchise fan Jim Taggart told CBC News at the screening. "Star Wars is life."

Many superfans showed up decked out in Darth Vader and Princess Leia costumes, showing true dedication. Others, showed up with lightsabers, likely prepared to battle for the best seats.
