Sounds of the Season has another record-setting fundraising year
Over $580,355 to go towards Daily Bread Food Bank
The CBC's annual holiday fundraising campaign Sounds of the Season is celebrating another record-breaking year, collecting over $580,000 and hundreds of pounds of food was donated from the public.
The money and 7.082 lbs of food collected will go towards the Daily Bread Food Bank.
Earlier this month, SOTS was celebrated at the CBC broadcasting centre with a public open house and full day of music.
The day featured musical acts from Serena Ryder, Nikki Yanofsky, Walk Off The Earth and a special performance by Chris Hadfield and the Wexford Gleeks.
At the event held on Dec. 6, Gail Nyberg of the Daily Bread Food Bank said GTA food banks handled one million visits last year; about one third of those clients were children.
"We can't operate without this help," she said. "I just hope people continue to give and understand that they're helping their neighbours."
