Sony Centre CEO in hot seat over renovation costs
Renovations have exceeded estimated costs by more than $10 million
Sony Centre CEO Dan Brambilla faced questions from his own board of directors Friday over allegations that proper records of construction contracts were not kept during recent renovations at the facility.
In April, Toronto's auditor general Jeffrey Griffiths released an 83-page report summarizing an investigation that found many of the renovation contracts were awarded without oversight or competition.
The renovation project was supposed to cost $28 million, but has so far cost around $40 million. It’s estimated that another $4 million is needed to complete the work. Most of the remaining funds needed are expected to come from the city.
The CBC's Toronto City Hall reporter Jamie Strashin tried to get clarification from Brambilla following the hearing. Watch the video above for more.
