Slippery sidewalks lead to fines for some homeowners
Layers of ice and snow still coat many Toronto streets
The bitter cold weather and mix of ice and snow have led to very messy sidewalks and streets in Toronto, resulting in a lot of slips and falls.
Emergency Services say they have received dozens of calls about falls and broken bones as a result of layers of snow and ice coating city streets.
Property owners have about 12 hours to clear their sidewalks after a snowfall could receive a fine of $125 for failing to so.
The city said they have issued 200 warnings and handed out dozens of fines to residents who haven't cleaned up the snow and ice.
