SIU investigating incident at Brampton motel that sent woman to hospital

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate after a woman was rushed to hospital with a serious back injury following an interaction with police at a motel in Brampton.

Police say officers interacted with 2 people and a woman in her 20s was seriously hurt

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate after a woman was rushed to hospital with a serious back injury following an interaction with police at a motel in Brampton.

Peel Police say they were at the Motel 6 at on Steelwell Road near Highway 410 and Steeles at around midnight for an investigation.

While there, they say there was an interaction between police and two people and a woman in her 20s suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The SIU says the officers were trying to speak with individuals inside one of the the motel rooms, then shortly after that a woman was found suffering from a back injury at the rear of the motel.

The SIU is called for any incident involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
