Sidewalks fixed only to be ripped out again
Miscommunication between the city and utility companies has led to an apparent waste of time and money as some sidewalks are being fixed only to be ripped up again once old infrastructure is finally removed.
After Toronto Hydro put some new poles in place, sidewalks were repaved. The issue is that much of the time these sidewalks will be ripped out again in a few months when utility companies return to remove old, decommissioned poles.
"It’s crazy, I’m sure most people who look at it say: 'Can't the city get their act together?’" said Coun. Janet Davis, with the public works and infrastructure committee.
Davis admits the city has to do a better job co-ordinating these projects with all the utilities.
