An 82-year-old man has died after the car he was driving struck a tree in Whitby, Ont.

Police say alcohol not a factor in the fatal crash

An air ambulance rushed Hendrick Hoogkamp, 82, to a Toronto hospital Saturday afternoon.

An 82-year-old man has died after the car he was driving struck a tree in Whitby, Ont.

Police say the car Hendrick Hoogkamp was in left the roadway Saturday afternoon and hit a fence before slamming into the tree.

Hoogkamp was airlifted to a trauma centre, where he died from his injuries shortly after.

Police say alcohol was not a factor in the accident and investigators are looking into whether Hoogkamp had a medical problem at the time of the crash.
