School bus strike averted with tentative deal
A tentative deal was reached late Tuesday to avoid a strike that could have affected thousands of students at Toronto’s public and Catholic schools.
A settlement was reached between Stock Transportation and the union representing about 600 school bus drivers.
The two sides had faced a strike deadline of 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, but CAW Local 4268 president Debra Montgomery announced a deal just before 11 p.m.
More than 4,000 students attend Toronto public and Catholic schools but it’s not clear just how many students would have been affected by a strike.
Details of the tentative agreement have not been released.
