Ryerson Rams goalie practises with Maple Leafs
Geography student backstopping NHL team in practice
An injury to starting goalie Jonathan Bernier was bad news for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they skate toward a possible spot in the playoffs. But it was not all bad news, at least not for Ryerson University men’s hockey goalie Troy Passingham.
Passingham will be training with the NHL club.
The Mississauga-born Passingham is a major in Geographic Analysis at the university, and has played three seasons with the Ryerson Rams hockey team.
The 6'1" backstop played 24 games this year with the Rams, including four playoff games. He had a 0.915 save percentage and 2.95 goals against average. The Rams had their best season ever last year.
