Man, 23, dead after being struck by VIA train in 'accidental' incident
Service delayed on Lakeshore East GO line for 2-3 hours as police investigated
A 23-year-old man is dead after being struck by a VIA train at Rouge Hill station Friday night in an incident police are describing as "accidental."
Toronto police received reports about a person in life-threatening condition on the Lakeshore East GO line just before 9:30 p.m.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation is underway.
Service on the Lakeshore East GO line was suspended for two to three hours with trains running between Union and Guildwood stations as well as Pickering and Oshawa stations, and buses bridging the gap from Guildwood and Pickering stations.
