Several major roads will be closed across the city this weekend as Torontonians flock to outdoor events to enjoy the last few weeks of summer.

Bloor Street, from Jane Street to Glendonwynne Road, will be closed to make way for the Bloor West Village Ukrainian Festival. Runnymede Road, however, will be open to traffic during the event. The closures start on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and end Sunday night at midnight. Other local roads in this area will also be shut down, so drivers should plan ahead.

Roncesvalles Avenue, from Grafton Avenue to Boustead Avenue, will be closed in both directions between 6 a.m. on Saturday and 11 p.m. on Sunday for the Polish Festival.

The Toronto 5K, which supports SickKids Hospital, is taking place Sunday. A number of roads will be closed in the area bounded by St. Clair Avenue to the north, Christie Street to the west, Davenport Road to the south, and Russell Hill Road/Macpherson Avenue to the east from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

And as for summer construction, the intersection of York and Adelaide is closed for streetcar track work. It starts Saturday at 6 a.m. and reopens next Saturday, September 21.

Businesses in the affected areas will remain open and the roads will be open to pedestrian traffic. The City of Toronto is encouraging travellers to use public transit to get around this weekend.
