Toronto man, 41, was slain in targeted shooting, police say
York Regional Police have released the name of the man shot dead outside a HomeSense store in Vaughan on Sunday afternoon.
Police on Monday identified Ritesh Thakur, 41, of Toronto as the man who died in the shooting that happened at 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Colossus Power Centre, located at Highway 7 and Weston Road.
Police found the man lying in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Police are looking for a newer model Honda Civic seen leaving the scene. The four-door vehicle is silver in colour with tinted windows.
Police say the shooting was targeted and not a random event. They also said Thakur's killing is not related to any other recent shooting in the area.
