Richmond Hill shooting leaves 2 dead, 1 badly hurt
York Regional Police are looking for two suspects after a man and woman were shot dead and another man was seriously injured in what police describe as a targeted attack in Richmond Hill.
The shooting happened just after midnight at a townhouse complex near Yonge Street and Major MacKenzie Drive East.
Officers who responded to calls about gunshots fired in a parking lot found the three victims inside a red Lexus. All had suffered gunshot wounds.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while one of the men succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The second man was in critical condition after the shooting.
Police have not identified the victims and no arrests have been made.
Shaundelle Pitt told CBC News that she and her sister heard a noise that "kind of sounded like fireworks, but it was slightly different."
Soon it was clear, however, that it had been a shooting.
Pitt said that when police cars, ambulances and fire trucks started rolling up, the sisters realized: "It’s one of our neighbours … somebody got shot."
Police are also trying to track down any surveillance video that could be helpful in the investigation.
