A rainfall warning issued early Easter Sunday has now ended for Toronto but remains in effect for much of southern Ontario and southern Quebec.

The federal weather agency warns of a possible 25 to 50 millimetres of rain in York and Durham regions, ending midday Monday. Periods of rain are still expected in Toronto starting around midnight, with a risk of thunderstorms overnight.

Gatineau could also see 25 to 50 millimetres of rain, beginning before Monday night.

The federal agency warns heavy downpours could cause flash floods and pooling on roads.

While Sunday's sunny skies won't last into Monday, temperatures will remain pleasant in Toronto with a high of 9 C falling to 5 C in the afternoon. Gatineau is expected to reach a high of 10 C with a nighttime low of –3 C when rain will change to snow.

Monday will be windy with gusts up to 70 km/h in Toronto and up to 40 km/h in southern Quebec.

The sunshine is set to return Tuesday.
