Police say driver hit woman with SUV, then ran away
Victim was crossing intersection with 11-year-old son when struck
Toronto police say a woman was struck and pinned underneath an SUV on Monday night, after which the driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene.
According to a police news release, the collision occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m., as a 44-year-old woman was crossing the west side of the intersection of Eglinton Avenue East and Midland Avenue, along with her 11-year-old son.
Police say that a man driving a Lincoln Navigator was turning from the northbound lanes of Midland Avenue onto the westbound lanes of Eglinton Avenue East when the pedestrian was struck.
The woman was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Her son was not injured in the incident.
Police say they have seized the vehicle involved in the collision.
They are now looking for the male driver who fled the scene.
