Police raids follow probe of GTA cellphone store robberies
Police raided nine residences in the Greater Toronto Area this week as part of a long-running investigation into a series of armed robberies that targeted cellphone stores in recent months.
Investigators say that suspects who participated in a Markham robbery last December were subsequently linked to other incidents in Ajax and Pickering.
The investigation into the robberies led to a series of raids on Tuesday. Seven suspects, ranging in age from 18 to 28 years, now face robbery-related charges.
Six of the accused are from Toronto, the seventh is from Brampton.
They are due to appear in a court in Newmarket on Thursday.
