Toronto police said Saturday that they are investigating a kidnapping in the city’s north end.

According to police, a 51-year-old male was reported missing by his wife on Friday night. He was found on Saturday morning in a building at 3250 Keele Street, near the Sheppard Avenue intersection, where he was tied up and held against his will.

Police were forced to smash a glass window to enter the building when nobody answered on the intercom after they arrived on scene.

The man was taken to hospital, and he is expected to recover fully from minor injuries.

One person who lives in the building told CBC News that the man owed money and was in possession of a cheque that the assailants wanted him to cash.

Police said they are searching for possible suspects, but have not released any further information at this time.
