Peel Regional Police say they are "not ruling anything out" in the case of three missing family members from Mississauga, Ont., and the remains of three people found in a burned-out car on a country road outside Barrie, Ont.

A missing persons report for an adult male and two children was filed last Friday. They were reported missing when a man said he was taking his two children to a movie, but never returned home, according to police.

The same day, human remains of three people were found inside a vehicle after it burned on Holick Road north of the 4th Line of Oro-Medonte Township, some 80 kilometres north of Toronto.

Aerial footage shows police vehicles and the charred site where three human bodies were found in the remains of a burned-out car near Barrie, Ont. on July 4 2014.

There is a drive-in theatre near the scene of the fire.

The vehicle and its contents have since been sent to Toronto for forensic investigation and post-mortems. Police say the pathology report is due Tuesday. In the meantime, they're calling on the public for help.

"We're asking anybody that saw anything suspicious or unusual in area of Holick Road on the third or fourth of July to come forward," said Const. Graeme Knox of the Ontario Provincial Police. Witnesses should call the Barrie detachment of the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Police previously confirmed that the case is not connected with that of the three family members who went missing earlier this week in Calgary. But are looking into the local missing persons case.
