Ontario's police watchdog is investigating after a man was shot dead by officers outside a police station in Oakville, west of Toronto.
Halton regional police say a man was seen causing damage in the station's parking lot this morning before noon.
Police say some officers went outside to deal with the issue and there was an "interaction" between the officers and the man.
Special Investigations Unit spokeswoman Monica Hudon says the man —who has not been identified — was fatally shot by police.
The agency investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
Halton police say no officers were injured.
Police are also investigating a second death in the Oakville area. Police were called to a home on Treetop Terrace after the body of a woman was found inside her home.
Police have identified her as Katherine Newman, 43, of Oakville.
Sources have told CBC News police believe the two deaths are related.
