One person is dead and three others are injured following a nine-vehicle crash in west Toronto Tuesday, according to police.

Wednesday afternoon, OPP identified the deceased man as Victor A. Bucalov, of Ajax, Ont. He was 42-years-old.

The collision happened at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 401, west of Yonge Street when — for unknown reasons — the driver of a loaded dump truck lost control of his vehicle and hit several other cars before rolling over.

Three other people were treated for minor injuries in hospital.

That portion of the highway remained closed until 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The crash is under investigation.
