A high-speed chase ended abruptly late Tuesday when a Blue Honda Civic pursued by police ran into a few metal poles, a parked car, a wooden fence and a traffic sign before rolling over onto its side.
The result was a spectacular crash site with car parts strewn across a parking lot on McCaul street near Baldwin Street (just north of Dundas Street West).
The chase began at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. The driver was pursued by police before losing control and rolling the car he was driving in the downtown parking lot.
The driver managed to get out of the car and tried to run away before collapsing nearby.
The man was taken to hospital. There is no word yet on charges. The province's Special Investigations Unit is investigating.
McCaul between College and Dundas Street West is expected to remain closed for the morning commute while police investigate.
