Police arrest one teen, seek another in Rexdale shooting

Toronto police have arrested an 18-year-old man and are searching for another in connection with a shooting in Rexdale that sent a man in his 20s to hospital.

Toronto police have arrested an 18-year-old man and are searching for another man the same age in connection with a shooting in Rexdale.  

Around 1:15 a.m., police received a call about a shooting near the intersection of Dixon Road and Islington Avenue.

Police allege that two men met with victim behind a building and got into an argument.

The victim was shot multiple times before the assailants fled the scene, 23 Division police said in a Thursday statement.

When paramedics arrived, they rushed a man in his 20s to a Sunnybrook Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police announced on Thursday that they had arrested an 18-year-old man in the case and charged him with one count of attempted murder and several weapons offences.

He was scheduled for a Thursday court appearance.

Authorities are looking for another 18-year-old man they believe was involved involved in the shooting.
