A former employee of a Peterborough, Ont. long-term care home has been charged after a fentanyl patch was stolen from a senior.
Peterborough police say the 39-year-old woman knew how to gain access to the home and the elderly resident's room, even though she was under conditions to stay away from the facility.
Police allege she entered the home twice, on Feb. 10 and Feb. 23, broke into a resident's room and removed the patch from the resident's body.
The home reported the incidents to the police on Feb. 23.
Police say the woman was arrested and has been charged with two counts of break-and-enter and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. She was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
