Homicide detectives are investigating following the discovery of a woman's body inside a vehicle in Mississauga, Ont., on Friday afternoon.

Peel Regional Police were alerted around 1:20 p.m. to a black BMW SUV parked in the Robert Speck Parkway and Hurontario Street area near Square One Shopping Centre.

Police said the woman's body showed "obvious signs of trauma."

The car was reported by office workers.

"It's very hard to get it, that somebody is in front of your building sitting in a car — dead," said Angelina Petkov, who works near the scene.

"I was nervous, I still am kind of shaken inside," she told CBC News.

Homicide investigators are currently trying to determine how long the woman may have been deceased for before her body was discovered in the SUV.

According to police, the SUV belongs to 59-year-old Ming-Chien Hsin, who was reported missing on Thursday, though they have not confirmed that Hsin was the woman in the vehicle.

Hsin, the owner of a spa chain with locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area, was nearly stabbed to death outside of her townhouse in Mississauga in November.

  • An earlier version of this story misspelled the name of Ming-Chien Hsin as Ming-Chieng Hsin.
