Pedestrian struck, killed by car in Mississauga
It is not yet clear if any charges will be laid
Peel Regional Police say a pedestrian has died after being hit by a car near Heartland Town Centre Monday morning.
Police say they received a call at 7:05 a.m. regarding a collision at the intersection of Silken Laumann Way and Britannia Road West in Mississauga.
A 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, who noted the driver remained at the scene.
The man's name has not yet been released to the public.
The affected intersection was closed in all four directions because of the incident, police said. Parts of Britannia Road West were closed in both directions between Mavis and Creditview roads as the Major Collision Bureau investigated.
The roads have now reopened.
