A Barrie, Ont., man is accused of punching a woman, spitting on another woman and assaulting three other people in a series of events that unfolded in and around a local nightclub on Saturday.

Barrie police were called to a Dunlop Street nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to a police news release, an officer attempted to arrest the 23-year-old man, but he got away.
