A new approach to hair replacement takes a pass on wigs and weaves — and instead dots the head with tiny tattoos. It’s called scalp micropigmentation, costs nearly $1,000 and only lasts a few years. 

The dots are meant to look like the follicles of closely cut hair. 

“The idea is that you’re making a thinner head of hair look a little thicker,” said Dr. Robert Jones.
