A man is dead after being thrown from his motorcycle on Jane Street near St. Clair Avenue West just before 3 p.m. ET Friday.

The motorcycle collided with a Dodge Journey, a mid-size crossover SUV, but police are still investigating the sequence of events that led to the fatality.

The man who was killed is believed to be in his mid-30s.

EMS officials said the driver who survived was assessed by paramedics at the scene. His SUV showed signs of damage on its back passenger side.

One of the vehicles may have crashed into a pole.

Police have cordoned off a section of Jane Street north of St. Clair Avenue West. They do not believe alcohol was a factor, but do think speed may have been an issue.

An empty boot on the road, surrounded by police chalk, sits among the debris.
