An 11-year-old Toronto-area boy missing since yesterday afternoon has been found safe.
Police in Mississauga spent Tuesday morning searching for Shaundrey Knight-Bryce, who had not been seen since leaving school Monday.
Peel Regional Police issued a message on Twitter just after 1:15 p.m. ET Tuesday confirming that Knight-Bryce had been found safe.
"We're absolutely thrilled," said Peel Regional Police Const. Fiona Thivierge, moments after news broke.
Police would not say where the boy was found or if he had spent the night inside or outside. Police said someone saw the boy and recognized his image, which was circulating in the news media.
The search for Knight-Bryce began on Monday evening when police were notified that the boy had not returned home from school. The Grade 6 student had been last seen by classmates between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Darcel Avenue Senior Public School, near Highway 427 and Finch Ave.
By Tuesday morning police had ramped up their search and set up a command post at Westwood Mall.
